Vaughn, Brown and Benson to Compete in XC South Central Regional

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State cross country program will send three Rambelles; Allison Vaughn, Mary Brown and Chasity Benson, to compete in the South Central Regional race scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 9 in Denver, Colo.

THE RACE
The 6,000-meter race, hosted by MSU Denver, will take place at Washington Park with a start time scheduled for 10:15 a.m. CT. following the conclusion of the Men's 10K race. In order for Vaughn, Brown and Benson to advance to the next round, they will need to be within the top two individual runners not on a qualifying team to receive automatic qualification or be one of the eight nationally selected at-large runners.

REPPIN' THE RAMBELLES
Allison Vaughn
  • One of two seniors on the Rambelles, Vaughn has finished as the top team runner in half the meets competed in this season, doing so at the Our Lady of the Lake West Side Classic and, most recently, at the Lone Star Conference Championships.
  • The former Christoval Cougar recorded her career-best time at the West Side Classic where she clinched 6th place overall with a time of 21:56.2 which ranks as the 14th best 6K time recorded by a Lone Star Conference runner according to Athletic.net.

Mary Brown
  • The second and final senior on the Rambelles' roster, Brown finished as the teams' best runner in the other two races where Vaughn did not achieve that feat: The Texas Tech Open and the NJMC Invitational II.
  • The West Side Classic was also kind to the Georgetown native as she earned a career best time when she placed 8th place and finished 2.6 seconds behind her teammate. The time of 21:58.8 slots as the 16th best 6K time according to Athletic.net.

Chasity Benson
  • The freshman from Roby, Texas finds herself in this race after consistently finishing as the teams' third best runner all season long.
  • Just as her teammates did, Benson recorded her career best time at the 6K race hosted by Our Lady of the Lake earlier this season, crossing the finish line with a time of 23:08.1 which slotted her 22nd in the event and earned her Lone Star Conference Freshman Women Runner of the Week honors.
