Lexington, Ky. – The Angelo State volleyball team saw five of their players –
Adeline Ortman,
Madi Parrish,
Evelyn Torres,
Caleigh Enax, and
Demi Carter – earn All-American honors from the AVCA, the organization announced this morning.
Additionally, Carter was named the National Freshman of the Year.
Ortman claimed first team honors while Parrish took home second team honors and Torres was named to the third team. Enax and Carter were named Honorable Mentions.
The five All-American honors are the most for the Belles in a single season in program history.
Ortman, the 2024 LSC Academic Player and Setter of the Year, leads the LSC and is ranked seventh in the country in assists, with 11.64 per set. She also ranks eighth in the LSC in aces per set. The MBA graduate student was named to the South Central Regional All-Tournament team and has recorded a personal best of 1,287 assists this season. Ortman's arrival at Angelo State has also seen the Belles' attack percentage rise 18 points from last season.
Ortman is the first Belle to be named a first team all-American since Kailyn Gilbreath in 2021.
Parrish, who is amid a steller postseason, is second in the LSC in kills and points. The sophomore Business student has recorded 104 kills in six postseason matches on a .255 attack percentage. The LSC Tournament MVP and South Central Regional All-Tournament has recorded seven double-doubles this season and four matches with 20 or more kills.
Torres, also a South Central Region All-Tournament Team selection, is third in the LSC in points and fourth in kills per set. She has four matches with 20 or more kills and three matches with 20 or more digs and has recorded 15 double-doubles this season. The graduate student, who is pursuing a master's degree in Global Security Systems, has recorded 1,210 career kills and 797 digs.
Carter is the second-ever Belle to be named the National Freshman of the Year, joining Meghan Parker, who did so in 2016. An All-LSC Honorable Mention and LSC All-Freshman Team selection, the Marketing student is one of six Belles to play in all 33 matches this season and leads the team with a .310 attack percentage. She had five matches with ten or more kills, three of which have happened in the postseason. She was named to the LSC All-Tournament Team as well as the South Central Region All-Tournament Team.
Enax, the 2024 LSC Libero of the Year, averages 5.17 digs per set, second in the LSC, and has climbed into the top ten in program history in digs. The Exercise Science senior has 1,570 career digs, which ranks fifth all-time and fourth in the rally-scoring era (since 2001). Additionally, her 98 career aces are eight in the rally-scoring era.
The Belles are 31-2 on the season and open their time in South Dakota tomorrow morning when they take on six-seed Gannon.
