GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Angelo State women's soccer team defeated Colorado Mesa 2-0 for its third straight shutout on Saturday afternoon.

The win pushes the Belles record to 3-0-1 after outshooting Colorado Mesa 13-7. ASU has now held opponents scoreless over the last 298 minutes of play.
"Today was a great step forward in out "team" cohesive play," ASU head soccer coach
Travis McCorkle said. "Front, middle and back lines all worked very hard for each other and were very selfless. Another key was our bench. When we made our subs today, they came in and played great."

Junior transfer
Demi Tsambasis kicked off the scoring with a goal in the 38
th minute that was assisted by
Megan Allen and
Tiffany Dang. Â It was the first assists of the season for Allen and Dang.

The Belles didn't waste much time finding the net again less than five minutes later. Dang scored an unassisted goal in the 42
nd minute in a scramble in front of the net.

Shantel Wittke made seven saves and picked up her second shutout of the season. Five of the senior's saves came in the second half. Wittke is third among Lone Star Conference goalkeepers with three shutouts.

"Tiffany and Demi scored a couple of great goals before the first half ended," McCorkle said. "We pushed for more in the second half and we came very close on a few occasions. Their goalkeeper made some great saves. Our team defensing from back to front is starting to look like what we want as well."

Sierra Anderson led the Belles with six shot and four being on goal.
Loni Byers, Dang, Tsambasis,
Lauren Perry and
Payton Shlemon all recorded one shot. Five different Belles have now scored a goal and credited with an assist for ASU on the season.
The Belles have a quick turnaround with a match in San Antonio on Tuesday against St. Mary's at 4 p.m.
