LUBBOCK, Texas – The Angelo State baseball dropped the second game of its series with Lubbock Christian, 6-1, on Saturday at Hays Field.
The Rams fall to 5-3 on the season with the loss and were out hit 12-to-1 by the Chaps (9-0).
Starting pitcher Matt Shannon took his second loss of the season as he tossed six and two-thirds innings and tallied 8 strikeouts. The Pleasanton native allowed four runs off nine hits.
Matt Waller drove home the only run of the game. The junior hit a grounder to the shortstop with runners on second and third that allowed Steven Pinales to score. Steven Kohler broke up LCU's Guillaume Blanchette's no-hit bid with a single in the sixth inning.
Jhonatan Del Rosario and Bryson Mitchell both entered the game in relief. Rosario allowed one hit and one run while Mitchell pitched one and one-third of an inning giving up two hits and one run.
The Rams will send sophomore Kellen Rholl to the mound for the final game of the series with LCU. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. in Lubbock.
