Belles wallop Kingsville 75-43

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team improved to 5-0 (3-0 Lone Star Conference) as they defeated Texas A&M-Kingsville 75-43 Thursday night at the Junell Center.

Junior center De'Anira Moore had an outstanding performance as she recorded a double double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. She sank all seven of her shots from the foul line and blocked a shot as well. Senior Dezirae Hampton poured in 16 points as she made 4 three pointers on the evening. She added in eight rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Maria Delgado also made four three pointers on the evening and scored 12 points. She added nine rebounds and a steal on the night.

Reigning Lone Star Conference defensive player of the week Marquita Daniels only played 22 minutes on the evening due to early foul trouble, but still finished with six points and six rebounds. She added in two assists and four steals. Asia Davis also had an excellent all around game, as she notched eight points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Senior guard Sidney Smith excited the crowd in her first appearance in a Belles uniform. Smith drained two 25 footers in the first half and finished with six points and a steal.

On the night, the Belles shot 36 percent from the field and 34 percent from the three point line, making 12 threes as a team, and held TAMUK to 29 percent from the field and 14 percent from three.

The Belles will be in action again Saturday afternoon as they battle St. Mary's at home. St. Mary's comes into the contest with a 7-1 record.
