SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State University women's basketball team erased a 16 point lead from the Texas Woman's Pioneers to make a comeback win to claim their second conference win.
The Belles are now 5-2 overall, and 2-1 in conference.

- Both teams struggled to find the basket in the first two and a half minutes until TWU made a second chance layup to get on the board first, 2-0.
- At the 6:13 mark, Sawyer Lloyd knocked one down to put the Belles on the board and trail, 4-2.
- The Blue and Gold grabbed its first lead of the game off two free throws by De'Anira Moore to lead, 7-6.
- Angelo State held the lead at 10-8 until the 2:54 mark when the Pioneers knocked down a three to take the lead back at 11-10.
- ASU struggled the rest of the first half to trail, 36-28, at halftime.
- The Pioneers momentum carried in the second half, as they led the Belles by 16 points at the 5:50 and 4:33 marks.
- The Belles started to cut in on the lead at the 3:13 mark, making a 7-0 run to trail by nine at 49-40 at the 2:06 mark.
- With one second remaining in the third quarter, ASU trailed by seven at 51-44.
- The fourth quarter started well for the Belles as they gained momentum with a made free throw from Catara Samuel. Less than a minute later, Samuel made a three pointer for ASU, trailing the Pioneers by five with almost nine minutes left to go.
- A layup from Asia Davis and another made three pointer from Samuel put Angelo State within two points of TWU.
- With 6:28 left in the quarter, Lloyd made a fast break layup for the Belles, pushing the Blue and Gold into the lead for the first time since the first quarter.
- Several made three pointers from Lloyd and Lana Marov extended the Belles lead to seven, 62-55.
- Two made free throws from Moore and another three pointer from Marov pushed the Belles even further to maintain their lead over the Pioneers, leading by 11 with 2:31 left in the quarter, 67-56.
- A made free throw each from Lloyd and Samuel, plus a made layup from Samuel kept the Belles lead at 11, 71-60 with 00:57 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
- Two made free throws, one from Davis and one from Lloyd, gave the Belles their biggest lead of the night at 13, the score at 3-60 with 34 seconds left on the clock.
- The Pioneers attempted a late quarter comeback after making a free throw, but to no avail as the Belles have another come from behind win against Texas Womans, 73-61.
Key Players:
- De'Anira Moore led the Belles in points, scoring 19 against the Pioneers. Moore shot 4-9 from the field, and 11-14 from the free throw line. Moore registered 11 rebounds, four on offense and seven on defense, as well as a steal.
- Catara Samuel scored 15 points for Angelo State, shooting 5-12 from the field, 3-8 from the three point line, and 5-4 from the free throw line. Samuel registered six total rebounds, two on offense and four on defense, as well as three assists, and one steal.
- Sawyer Lloyd scored 15 points alongside her teammate Samuel for the Belles as well. Lloyd shot 5-8 from the field, 2-5 from the three point line, and 3-6 from the free throw line. Lloyd registered six rebounds as well, one of offense and five on defense, as well one assist, two blocks, and two steals.
