Rams Sweep Three Game Series in Laredo

LAREDO, TX – The Angelo State Baseball team moved to 5-2 on the season as they finished off the sweep of the Texas A&M International Dustdevils, winning the final game of the series by a score of 11-1.

The Rams would be held scoreless until the top of the fourth inning. Josh Elvir would then continue his destructive streak at the plate, crushing a solo homerun to put the Rams on the board. Angelo State would be also be rewarded for their patience at the plate today, as the Rams put 16 batters on base by the way of walks.

These guys are regulars

Jordan Williams and Lachlan Mayo once again performed exceptionally well at the top of the lineup. Williams was officially 2-3 at the plate and drew two walks. The Round Rock native would also cross the plate as the runner once. Mayo went a perfect 1-1 in the batter's box on the day, driving in two runs and reaching base four different times on walks alone. Lachlan also continued his consistent run production in the top half of the lineup by driving in two runs. He would also pick up two stolen bases in the series finale.

Move the fences back

Gameday and Josh Elvir homeruns have become synonymous at this point, and we are absolutely here for it. The redshirt junior would once again drive a ball deep to kickstart the Rams lineup. Elvir was productive at the plate and on the bases as the Kemah lefty hit 2-2 and scored four runs as a baserunner. He would also draw two of the team's 16 walks.

Rising star

Fans who keep up with the team have got to be paying attention to the performance of a certain freshman from Silsbee, Texas. Jackson Hardy is currently batting .444 with two doubles and leading the team in stolen bases, successfully swiping bags at a 6-7 rate. Hardy's final game in the Laredo series would once again see him successful at the plate. Silsbee's very own would go 2-2, drive in two runs, walk three times, and score as a runner once as well.

Mound warriors

Four pitchers would occupy the mound for the Rams to get through the seven innings of play. Andrew Croucher had his name called as the starter of the finale and would remain on the bump for 2.1 innings of work only giving up two hits. Croucher only faced nine batters and struck out two of them while walking one. Fabian Muniz would then enter the game from the bullpen to get the Rams out of the second inning. Muniz would do just that and stay in the game for two more innings. In his 2.2 innings, he struck out three of the 12 batters he faced and walked none. The California Kid would ultimately give up the only run that the Dustdevils saw in their run column. Nick Coffman would then come in for relief and pitch for 1.1 innings to face four batters. The Incarnate Word transfer struck out one batter and gave up no hits. Josh Barnett would then come in to close out the game, retiring the final two batters of the series.

Looking forward

Rams fans don't have to wait long to see their team in action. Angelo State Baseball returns to Foster Field at First Community Federal Credit Union Stadium on Tuesday, February 12, as they face the St. Mary's Rattlers at 3 P.M.
