DENTON – The Angelo State women's basketball team improved to 18-2 (13-1 Lone Star Conference) with a dominant 82-51 road win over the Texas Woman's Pioneers Saturday afternoon.
The Belles were led by Dezirae Hampton, who had 21 points on 7-15 shooting, including 6-8 from the three point line. Four other players were in double figures, including De'Anira Moore and Catara Samuel. Marquita Daniels had 12 points and Maria Delgado had 11 while making three three pointers.
The Belles jumped out to a 19-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and led by 24 points at halftime. From there, they cruised, using their entire bench throughout the second half.
For the game, the Belles shot 44 percent from the field and 52 percent (12-23) from the three point line. They held the Pioneers to 39 percent from the field and 22 percent from the three point line while forcing 23 turnovers.
The Belles will be in action again this coming weekend as they go on the road to face Eastern New Mexico and West Texas A&M.
