Belles Defeat LCU, Extend Conference Record To 3-0

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State University Belles volleyball team opened up their three home conference match series against Lubbock Christian with a win, bringing the Belles to an 11-1 overall record, and 3-0 in conference play.

  • ASU and LCU fought back and forth throughout set one, with ASU slowly pulling ahead of the Lady Chaparrals.
  • Kailyn Gilbreath finished set one with nine kills against the Lady Chaps,
  • Lindsey Ledyard finished set one with seven assists for the Belles.
     
  • In set two, the Belles took control of the ball from an offensive point, hitting with a 65 percent attack rate.
  • Makenzie Griffin joined Gilbreath on the attack with five kills against the Chaps.
  • Haley Coulter led the defense during the second set with 11 digs.
 
  • Lubbock Christian kept the third set close from the start, battling with the Belles until the end, scoring 21 points against ASU.
  • Makenna Hanssen ended set three with one service ace and 11 digs for the match.
 
Key Players:
 
  • Gilbreath led the Belles offense with 16 kills in a sweep against Lubbock Christian.
  • Ledyard would assist the Belles offense with 18 total assists with Meghan Parker coming close with 10.
  • Coulter would lead the Belles defense with 14 digs, while Hanssen would come in a close second with 11.
