Belles Start Season With Two Wins

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State Belles volleyball team showed an impressive start to this season at day one of the Kathleen Brasfield Invite. ASU defeated Southeastern Oklahoma and swept New Mexico Highlands to begin 2-0.

Match 1: ASU 3 SEOK 1
  • In set one at 5-2, the Belles went on a 9-0 run before the Savage Storm ended it to trail 14-3 to ASU.
  • The Blue and Gold continued to dominate set one to win 25-7 and take a 1-0 lead in the match.
  • The Belles momentum continued into set two, as they started on a 5-0 run and refused to let Southeastern Oklahoma State back in it, to claim set two 25-11 and lead the match 2-0.The Angelo State Belles volleyball team showed an impressive start to this season at day one of the Kathleen Brasfield Invite. ASU defeated Southeastern Oklahoma and swept New Mexico Highlands to begin 2-0.
  • ASU and SEOK battled it out in set three, as both teams traded points to tie three times since 6-6, before Southeastern Oklahoma took the lead 9-8 for the first time in the match.
  • The Savage Storm momentum continued to hold off ASU, 25-20, and claim one point in the match to trail 2-1.
  • In the fourth set, the Belles found their momentum once more, as they closed out the match 3-1 with a 25-10 victory.
Match 2: ASU 3 NMHU 0
  • In the second set, ASU went on a 9-0 run before New Mexico Highlands scored to end the Belles momentum momentarily.
  • In the third set, after New Mexico Highland scored 1-0, ASU went on an 8-0 run, to remain in control of the serve.
  • The Belles dominated most of the third set, only allowing eight points in the set.
