Denton, Texas – The Belles returned to the court after their longest layoff of their regular season this evening against Texas Woman's, ultimately winning a close-fought match in four sets. The Belles recorded a season-high 62 kills in the match, while also hitting .287 as a team.
A cluster of small runs for the Belles in the opening set saw them eventually win 25-20; their second set featured a 7-0 run to make it 22-13, where freshman Jaedyn Woolley held serve for the run, including recording a pair of aces in consecutive serves.
Set three saw the hosts go on a 9-1 run to end the set and prevent the sweep, before the Belles took set four to claim the match.
Kailyn Gilbreath was the standout player on the court for the Belles. The senior recorded her third career triple-double, recording 13 kills, 20 assists and 14 digs while also hitting .419 for the night.
The 13 kills were tied most in the match with teammate Baleigh Allen, with the mark being a season-high for the senior. Allen hit .579 for the match and recorded a solo block on the defensive side.
For the second match in a row, Woolley led the team in assists with 24 for the match. The Amarillo native is averaging 6.57 assists per set over her last two matches.
Delaney Fuller notched her second double-double in as many matches, with 11 kills to go along with 13 digs; libero Chloe Patton recorded 10 digs on the match and outside hitter Elsa Lamphere reached double-digit kills for the fourth time this season, hitting .269 as she converted 11 kills.
The Belles are now 15-2 on the season and 8-0 in conference play. They return to action tomorrow afternoon in Dallas against DBU.
