ODESSA, Texas – The 11^th-ranked Angelo State women's tennis team finished the weekend with a sweep of UT Permian Basin, defeating the Falcons 7-0 on Saturday at the Bush Tennis Center.
 
The Belles improve to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in Lone Star Conference play while the Falcons drop to 3-7, 0-1 in the LSC.
 
ASU took an early lead after securing the doubles point, winning all three matches. Valentina Gonzalez and Ena Ovcina held on to win 7-5 at the No. 1 spot while Zoe Gubbels and Virginie Becht won 6-2 and No. 2 and Maria Delgadillo and Anna Schneemann won at No. 3 with a score of 6-3.
 
The Belles carried momentum into singles play, sweeping all six matches beginning with Gubbels' 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4. Gonzalez made it 3-0 in favor of the Belles after winning 6-2, 6-1 at the top spot while Alexandra Vishnevskaya clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6.
 
Angelo State finished off the sweep with wins by Dianela Rodriguez at No. 2 and Becht at No. 5.
 
The Belles will return home next weekend as they host two LSC matches against St. Mary's and Texas A&M – Kingsville beginning Friday, April 2.
