WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The 12^th-ranked Angelo State tennis team finishing the weekend with a 4-3 victory over 17^th-ranked Midwestern State on the road on Saturday in Lone Star Conference play.
 
With the win, the Belles improve to 11-3 overall on the year and carry their undefeated conference record into next week at 6-0. For the Mustangs, they drop to 10-6 overall, suffering their first LSC loss to go 6-1.
 
Zoe Gubbels and Virginie Becht continued to perform well together, winning 6-1 in doubles play before Maria Delgadillo and Anna Schneemann held on to a 7-5 win to claim the doubles point and the early lead.
 
In singles play, Becht made quick work of her opponent at No. 6, winning in straight sets 6-1, 6-3, giving the Belles a 2-0 advantage.
 
The Mustangs kept up the fight, picking up wins at the No. 5, No. 2, and No. 1 positions to take a 3-2 lead in the dual.
 
Playing at No. 4, Delgadillo tied the match with a 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 win before Dianela Rodriguez clinched the win for ASU, winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 3.
 
The Belles will return home next weekend as they close out the home portion of the Lone Star regular season, facing Cameron on Friday, Apr. 16, and Arkansas Fort Smith on Saturday, Apr. 17.
