SAN ANGELO, Texas – The 11
th-ranked Angelo State women's tennis team finished a perfect 2-0 at home this weekend after defeating Texas A&M – Kingsville 6-1 on Saturday in Lone Star Conference play at the ASU Tennis Courts.
With the win, the Belles improve to 9-3 on the season and remain undefeated against conference opponents at 4-0.
The Belles took an early lead after securing the doubles point, sweeping all three matches.
Valentina Gonzalez and
Ena Ovcina made quick work of their opponent, winning 6-1 while
Maria Delgadillo and Anna Schneeman locked in the point with a 6-2 win at No. 3.
In singles play,
Alexandra Vishnevskaya was the first to finish, winning in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 6 spot. Following her, Gonzales and Delgadillo both won their matches to clinch the dual against the Javelinas, winning 6-3, 6-2, and 6-4, 6-1 respectively.
Also picking up wins was
Ena Ovcina, winning 7-6, 7-5 at the No. 2 spot, and
Zoe Gubbels winning at No. 4 6-2, 6-3.
The Belles will continue Lone Star action on the road next weekend as they travel to DBU and Midwestern State beginning Friday, Apr. 9.
