Belles Fall in Regional Title Match to StMU, 4-2

ARLINGTON, Texas – The ninth-ranked Angelo State women's tennis team closed out its final match in a 4-2 loss to St. Mary's in the South-Central Regional Championship on Tuesday at the Ennis Indoor Tennis Center.
 
The Belles finish the season with a 15-4 overall record, ending in the sweet sixteen of the NCAA DII National Tournament.
 
StMU earned an early advantage in the match, earning the doubles point after wins at No. 1 and No. 3 while Zoe Gubbels and Virginie Becht led 5-2 in the second spot before the match was called.
 
Maria Delgadillo tied things up for the Belles, winning at No. 4 in straight sets with a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Also picking up a win was Dianela Rodriguez who defeated her opponent at the No. 3 slot, winning 6-3, 6-2.
 
The Rattlers picked up a couple big points at the top two spots, winning 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1 and 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 before clinching the win with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 5.
