AUSTIN – Coming off a sweep last Saturday, the Angelo State volleyball team ensured they did not enter a losing streak, sweeping St. Edward's on their home court Friday night in Texas' capitol city.
For the match, the Belles hit .359, their best mark in a match all season in what has been their best offensive effort in 2022, as they only committed seven attack errors for the entire match.
With the opening set tied at 8-all, the Belles went on a 10-1 run, with
Caleigh Enax holding serve for the Belles for most of the run.
Sydney Mundkowsky recorded four kills during the run, and
Hannah Kinnison added three as the Belles eventually took set one, 25-12.
Set two was closer as neither team was able to pull away, but a late 5-2 run that featured four kills from four different players and a service ace led to the Belles taking the set 25-21.
Four more Mundkowsky kills in the Belles' 8-2 run to start set three saw the Belles jump out to a lead they would keep for the entire set, eventually winning 25-15.
Mundkowsky led all players with 19 kills while hitting .500 on the match; Kinnison came one dig shy of a double-double and did not commit an attacking error, ending with ten kills in 30 attempts for a .333 hitting percentage.
Laney Dale assisted a match-high 24 times, her most in a three-set match since the season's opening weekend; the sophomore also recorded ten digs for her fourth double-double. Fellow setter
Kayla Baer joined Dale with a double-double with 11 assists and ten digs, her fifth on the season.

Ireland Ferguson fell one assist shy of her first collegiate double-double with ten digs to go with nine assists; the freshman from Florida also notched three service aces.
Caleigh Enax led the Belles with 17 digs in the match; playing as an outside hitter, she buried six kills and only committed one error for a .238 percentage.
The Belles improve to 11-10 on the season and 7-2 in conference play. They take on St. Mary's tomorrow at 2 p.m.; the Rattlers are coming off a sweep tonight of UTPB and are also 7-2 in LSC play.
