Rams Win Two on Monday to Sweep the Rattlers

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The 17th-ranked Angelo State baseball team swept the series against St. Mary's winning both games of Monday's doubleheader at Dickson Stadium.
 
The Rams improve to 13-3 overall and in Lone Star Conference play as they pick up their second sweep of the season after winning game three 4-2 and game four 11-1.
 
Game 1: ASU 4, StMU 2
ASU started quickly in game one of the doubleheader, scoring two runs in the first inning as Justin Lee doubled to score Jordan Williams while Tayten Tredaway forced a bases-loaded walk for the second run.
 
The Rattlers got one run back in the third, scoring on a ground out to second base to cut the lead to one run.
 
Jake Rogers started on the mound for the Rams, throwing 6 2/3 innings while allowing three earned runs off four hits with three strikeouts. Picking up a save was Carson Childers who faced one batter, forcing a ground out.
 
The Rams added another run in the fifth and sixth innings as Tredaway grounded out to bring home Austin Beck while Jackson Hardy hit a sac bunt to score Reese Johnson.
 
Game 2: ASU 11, StMU 1
After scoring a run in each of the first two innings in game two, the Rams poured on the runs in the fourth inning, scoring eight to go up 10-0.
 
Koby Kelton scored Beck on a sac bunt while Johnson, Hardy, and Walters each recorded an RBI hit. Back up at the plate, Beck hit a two-RBI single to right center before Tredaway forced a bases-loaded walk for the final run of the inning.
 
Childers started for the Rams in game two, throwing five innings of work while giving up only one hit with four strikeouts. Pitching in relief, Kyle Moseley tossed one scoreless inning without a hit while Jackson Haga closed out the seventh with the final two outs.
 
ASU tallied another run off a walk in the fifth inning as Lee got on with the bases loaded.
 
The Rams return home next weekend as they host Lubbock Christian in four-game series beginning Friday, Mar. 4 at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.
