Rams Struggle Offensively in First Loss of the DII College World Series

CARY, N.C. – The fifth-seeded Angelo State baseball team had an uncharacteristic night in the NCAA Division II National Championship, falling to top-seeded North Greenville 18-3 at the USA Baseball Training Complex.

The Rams move to 51-13 on the year and will face West Chester in an elimination game tomorrow afternoon.

North Greenville came out early, hitting a solo home run in the first before adding four more runs in the top of the second inning to take a 5-0 advantage.

ASU struggled to get any offense going, finishing with two hits, and leaving seven runners on base.

After falling behind, 10-0, the Rams put across three runs in the sixth inning as Jordan Williams singled to score Justin Lee and Koby Kelton before Tripp Clark was hit at the plate with bases loaded for another run.

The Crusaders answered back with six runs in the seventh and two more in the ninth.

ASU will take on the Golden Rams tomorrow after the conclusion of Wednesday's first game beginning at 10:30 a.m. EST.
