Rambelles Wrap Up Non-Conference Schedule With 1-0 Victory

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State women's soccer team made it three victories in a row, and six games unbeaten as they picked up a 1-0 win over Fort Lewis early Sunday afternoon.

With the result, the Rambelles improve to 5-0-1 on the season, their best start since their 10-game unbeaten season in 2020.

In the first half, the Belles registered 11 shots but were only able to keep three on target. The best chances in the first half would sail above the net off the foot of Madison Stokes in the 38th minute and Katelin Heise in the 41st minute.

"I think that our finishing needs to get better and our movement up front needs to be better so that we can be more dangerous with the ball in the attacking third," said Belles Head Coach Travis McCorkle.

The Belles did not let off the pressure in the second frame, dialing up nine more shots (three on target).

The breakthrough came in the 82nd minute when Reagan Urbany slotted a ball into Grace Jordan who placed the ball perfectly into the right-side netting, leaving the Skyhawks keeper no chance.

"I think we are in a decent spot, but we are not perfect," said McCorkle, "we got a couple of players back today and we were able to get them some time back on the pitch and you could see their quality right away."

Kira Miller earned clean sheet number three on the season, the senior was forced into action twice in the second half to keep the Skyhawks off the board.

The Belles open up Lone Star Conference play in Laredo, Texas against Texas A&M International on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 5 p.m, before returning home against Oklahoma Christian on Sept. 17.
