AUSTIN, Texas – After an efficient afternoon shooting the basketball, the Angelo State women's basketball team earned with number 16 on the season, defeating St. Edward's 63-51 Saturday afternoon in Austin.
The Rambelles improve to 16-3 on the season and move to 11-2 in Lone Star Conference action. The Hilltoppers drop to .500 on the season and are now 10-10 overall and 6-6 in LSC play.
40 MINUTE RUNDOWN
- Aicha Ndir, making her first start of the season, put the Rambelles up by three, 9-6 with 5:46 to go in the first quarter.
- Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant hit a triple with 2:32 before the first quarter ended to put the Rambelles ahead by seven, 17-10.
- Ndir scored four points down the stretch, giving the Rambelles a 21-10 lead heading into quarter number two.
- A triple from Landry Morrow and another bucket from McGhee-Pleasant put the Rambelles ahead by 15, 26-11, with 8:15 before the half.
- The Hilltoppers defense would allow the Rambelles only four points over the next six minutes, giving themselves an avenue back into the contest, trailing 30-21 with 2:34 to go in the second.
- The Rambelles would take a seven-point lead into the break, leading 32-25 after shooting 48 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes.
- Sawyer Lloyd put the Rambelles back up by 12, 39-27, after hitting a pull up jumper with 7:20 remaining in the third.
- The teams would combine for only nine points in the final seven minutes, with the Rambelles taking a 43-32 advantage into the fourth.
- Morrow hit another triple to keep the lead at 14 with 7:32 to go on an assist from Lloyd, her ninth on the afternoon.
- The Hilltoppers were kept at bay down the stretch and the Rambelles came away with a 63-51 victory and a 2-0 weekend on the road.

- Lloyd led all scorers with 16 points on 7-14 shooting. The exercise science major had a season high nine assists and seven rebounds as well.
- McGhee-Pleasant had 12 and Morrow tied her career high with 10 points off the bench to round out the double-digit scorers.
- Madeline Stephens had eight points and eight boards on the afternoon in Austin.
- Ndir set a new career high, scoring seven points against the Hilltoppers.
- The Rambelles shot 46.4 percent from the field and a season best 50 percent from three-point range.
- The Blue and Gold dominated the glass, outrebounding SEU 37-27.
- This, the Rambelles 16th victory, surpasses their total from last season in just their 19th game with nine regular season games still to play.
