SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Angelo State women's soccer team would earn a 1-1 draw with UT Permian Basin on Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
The Rambelles move to 4-6-3 overall and 3-2-2 in Lone Star Conference play. UTPB moved to 3-3-4 overall and 1-1-3 in LSC action following the away draw with the Belles.
The first half of action was cagey between the two sides, with only six total shots in the half. The Rambelles defensive line only allowed one shot on goal in the first 45 minutes, the Falcons would only register four shots in the game.
The Belles attack would have four shots on goal in the first half, with the best chance coming from
Grace Jordan inside the box, which resulted in a corner kick for the Belles.
In the first minute of the second half, the Belles would get a corner kick where
Mia Czarnecki would send it into the box to
Tina Clark, who would put the Bells up, 1-0, and recorded her first goal as a Belle. Two minutes later, the backline that had been stopping the UTPB attack all night let a shot from the inside the box past them to tie the game up, 1-1.
In the 88th minute, a yellow card would be drawn by Carolina Farias to give the Rambelles a last-minute chance to take the lead. The shot would result in a corner kick that went over the box and resulted in a goal kick for the Falcons.
The Belles head to Dallas for a match-up with #17 Dallas Baptist on Saturday, with kick-off slated for 1:00 p.m.
From Head Coach Travis McCorkle: " I thought the game went more for them. They wanted to make the game all about free kicks and fouls. I think that the second half was better on our part in dealing with what they were doing. I am happy with Tina's goal, the first of her career. I think again, it's been the same story all year we can't execute in the penalty box we have to get better. We had good, solid chances today that we just did not execute on. Quick turnaround we will be ready for Saturday we will go up, and it will be a very different game. We will have to recover smartly in the next couple of days and see if we can get a result. DBU is a place where we have played in the past three to four years, so it's a little bit of a home away from home."
