Rams Improve to 5-0 in Conference with 44-7 Win Over Midwestern State

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Angelo State kept its win streak going on Saturday as the Rams defeated Midwestern State 44-7 at Memorial Stadium.
 
The victory moves the Rams to 5-2 overall on the year as they remain undefeated in Lone Star Conference play at 5-0.
 
ASU picked off the Mustangs on the first drive of the game as Xavier Walton returned the interception 53 yards to MSU's one-yard line, setting up a touchdown run by Braeden Fuller for the early lead.
 
The Rams added to their lead early in the second quarter as Cameron Dischler found the endzone on a six-yard run for his first career touchdown.
 
ASU added two more scores before the half as Zeek Freeman broke away on a 20-yard touchdown run before Fuller found Hunter Wallis on a 20-yard pass to the endzone with time expiring in the half to take a 34-0 lead into the locker room.
 
Fuller finished with 164 passing yards, completing 15-of-19 attempts with two touchdowns on the night.
 
Bradley Larson opened the scoring in the second half, converting a 37-yard field goal attempt to give the Rams a 37-0 lead.
 
ASU's defense held the Mustangs to 241 total yards of offense while the Rams collected 392 yards with 236 passing yards and 156 on the ground.
 
Late in the third quarter, Kaden Smith scrambled to the sideline before launching a 69-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Jones for the score.
 
The Mustangs scored a late touchdown on an 11-yard pass with just over two minutes to go in the game.
 
Dischler finished with 80 total yards of offense, collecting six catches for 37 yards and rushing for 43 more. Jordan McKinney led the Rams with seven tackles while Stephen Woods, Marquis Brown, and Zach Burton each collected six tackles.
 
The Rams return home next weekend as they welcome in Sul Ross State on Homecoming night on Saturday, Oct. 26.
