From Travis McCorkle, Grace Jordan, and Harper Saxon: Q: What did you see in this match? T: "Heading into overtime I told the team what they needed to do, I told Grace you have ten minutes before I make a change do everything you can to make an impact. With DBU playing a couple more games than we did we knew it was going to be a tough situation for them, beating them in the conference tournament and allowing us to host I think is what led to this game. We had 18 shots on the day and 10 on goal which is a great performance from us. I would like to see a goal or two in regulation off that many shots, but I am still very proud of the effort that the girls have put in not just today but the whole year.
Q: With the aggressiveness picking up offensively towards the end of regular how comfortable were you with keeping that momentum going into overtime? T: "I was comfortable with the mentality of the team, I wasn't comfortable with the situation of the moment. Soccer is one of the least fair sports statistically you can have 22 shots and 20 on goal and you can lose 1-0. I feel good about this team, this team just has confidence, it's real confidence and a real desire they want to win the next game. After winning the tournament, we told the girls it was just a step, today was just a step, we just want to take small steps and keep moving forward and setting the bar higher and higher for ASU Soccer.
Q: This is the second time going into overtime against DBU in the last week what were your thoughts going into overtime? H: " I am just so proud of our defense and staying out there for the full 90 and the thirty seconds in overtime. It's a lot harder than it looks when our offense is getting chances and not capitalizing, and the defense has to keep us in games like this one. Defensive players don't get the same credit as people who are scoring goals and making assists, so im proud to be a part of the back line and the girls I am with I couldn't ask for anything better.
G: "I was stressed out a lot I don't like going into overtime a lot, but I felt very confident in this team and everything that we can do. I know the last time that we went into overtime we took care of business. I just felt like we could continue to do the same thing.Â
