Belles Close Out Kathleen Brasfield Invitational with Pair of Wins

SAN ANGELO—The Angelo State volleyball team ended their weekend on a high note, claiming a pair of wins today. This morning, they beat Fort Lewis in four sets before closing out the 12-match, six-team tournament with a sweep of Emmanuel College.

The Belles cruised early on against the Skyhawks, winning the first two sets. The Skyhawks fought back to win the third set, 28-26. The Belles bounced back to close out the fourth set, 25-17, to win the match.

The Belles hit .214 against the Skyhawks and recorded 12 aces, their most in a match since they recorded 12 against Texas A&M-Commerce on October 4th, 2019.

Madi Parrish led all players with 18 kills while hitting .302; she added ten digs, recording her first double-double of the season and the fifth of her career.

Hannah Spencer had nine kills and only committed one attacking error for a .533 attack percentage; the sophomore also led the Belles with three blocks in the match.

Adeline Ortman and Caleigh Enax each recorded four service aces; Ortman led the team with 34 assists, while Enax recorded her third 20-dig match this season, finishing with 23.

The weekend finale featured the two teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament a year ago, and the Belles came out on top with a 25-13, 25-22, 25-19 sweep of the Lions.

The Belles' defense held the Lions to a .101 attack percentage, doing so with the aid of six blocks and 52 digs.

Parrish and Evelyn Torres led the Belles with 13 and 12 kills against the Lions, with Torres notching a double-double as the graduate student added 11 digs.

Enax led the Belles with 18 digs, while Ortman assisted 35 times. Ortman also led the way with three service aces.

The All-Tournament Team consisted of 15 athletes from the six schools this weekend.

Ortman, Enax, Parrish, and Torres were named to the all-tournament team for their standout performances this weekend.
