Last Meeting: Friday will be the first meeting in program history between and Rams and Lobos.
LAST TIME OUT:
ASU bounced back in games three and four to earn the four-game series against UT Tyler last weekend which kept the Rams atop the LSC conference, tied with the Patriots and St. Mary's entering this weekend.
The Blue and Gold lead the Lone Star Conference in team batting average (.387), on base percentage (.487), stolen bases (22), ERA (3.41), and runs allowed (22) while being within the top three in numerous other categories.
SCOUTING SUL ROSS STATE:
2025 marks Sul Ross State's first year competing in DII athletics and through two weekends, Lone Star Conference play has proven to be tough. The Lobos enter the weekend sitting in the basement of the LSC standings with a 1-7 record after being swept by Lubbock Christian at home last weekend. SRSU clinched the program's first DII victory against St. Mary's 6-2 in the back half of the Saturday doubleheader back on Saturday, Feb. 1.
At the plate, the Lobos are led by outfielder Aaron Morales. The junior from El Paso, Texas has played in all eight games for Sul Ross and leads them in every offensive category except RBIs where he is second. As a team, SRSU sits in 12
th in the conference in hitting and remains in the bottom half in numerous other categories.
On the mound, the Lobos rank last in team ERA (14.44) as the staff has given up 10+ runs in six of the eight games played thus far. Gage Cobb spotlights the staff as the team's Friday night starter. The junior from Lubbock has a team-best 6.52 ERA and 10 strikeouts.
CONFERENCE FAVORITES:
The Rams were selected as the favorites to take the 2025 LSC crown, earning the top spot in the preseason poll with 483 points, including 29 of the 39 first-place votes. Coming in second was Lubbock Christian followed by West Texas A&M, UT Tyler and St. Edwards to round out the top five.
