“Tarleton was surging and coming off a huge win last weekend (over West Texas A&M),” ASU head coach Chuck Waddington said. “They are a very good team and played great tonight. We are really happy to go on the road and get this win.”

Shelby Wilt established a new career high in the match with 32 digs, while Maddie Huth led Angelo State with 14 kills and four blocks. Chelsea Gibson added nine kills with Shelbi Goode tacking on nine more hours after being named the LSC's Offensive Player of the Week for her performance last week. Alex Woolsey recorded 50 assists (the fourth time this season she has surpassed 50) and added 11 digs against the TexAnns. Woolsey now has 4,352 assists in her career and is 434 away from Amber Nelson's career record at ASU.

The Belles, who finished with a .118 hitting percentage, finished with six blocks and withstood 14 Tarleton State blocks. ASU was limited to a .048 hitting percentage in the third set before regaining momentum and posting a .200 percentage in the fourth and pulling away with a .211 percentage in the fifth. Tarleton State was limited to a .045 percentage in the fourth and fifth sets.

The Belles return to action at 7 p.m. on Friday against Texas Woman's at the Junell Center before also hosting Texas A&M-Commerce at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

“It's a huge weekend for us,” Waddington said. “TWU is very talented and will want to hold on to the top spot."
