Greenwood, Ind. – Angelo State volleyball graduate student setter Adeline Ortman was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American First Team, the organization announced this morning.

Ortman, the LSC Academic Player of the Year, is the only player from the conference and one of only two from the South Central Region to be selected to the Academic All-American teams.

After earning her bachelor's degree in management last spring, Ortman graduated and transferred to Angelo State to pursue her MBA. She has carried a 4.0 GPA throughout her collegiate career.

She was an impact player on the court for the Belles as she assisted 1,384 times this season, averaging 11.53 assists per set. She is the first setter since Meghan Parker in 2018 to help over a thousand times in a single season.

She also led the Belles with 43 aces and 15 double-doubles, and the Belles went 32-3 on the season, winning the LSC Tournament and the South Central Regional and making it to the National Semifinals for the first time in program history.

Ortman had eight games with 50 or more assists as the Belles' team attack percentage rose 13 points from the 2023 season.

This honor joins her AVCA First Team All-American honor, which she received last month for her play on the court for the Belles this season.

Ortman is the sixth Belle all-time to earn Academic All-American honors, joining Hannah Kinnison (2023), Sophia Berg (2021), Katie MacLeay (2015), Marci Sanders (1998) and Mary Tschirhart (1984). She joins MacLeay as the second-ever Belle to be named to the first team.

Ortman is the 58^th student-athlete from Angelo State to earn Academic All-American honors and the 16th to be named to the first team.
