“I thought we played a really steady match,” ASU head coach
Chuck Waddington said. “They are a very dangerous team that has weapons all over the court. We did a great job of keeping them off balance so that they couldn't take big swings all the time. It was good to see us take them out of their system throughout the night.”
The Belles, who hit over .300 in the first two sets, finished the night with a .251 hitting percentage and limited TWU to a .136 percentage. Josie Santos led the Pioneers with 16 kills, while Courtnee Davis had 23 digs.
Woolsey now has 4,400 career assists in her hunt for Amber Nelson's career record of 4,786 at Angelo State, while Huth now has 514 kills in her career.
ASU returns to action at 2 p.m. on Saturday against Texas A&M-Commerce at the Junell Center.
“Tonight's match was really important but tomorrow's is just as important,” Waddington said. “Our team has to know that. Commerce is really athletic and we are going to have to be mentally prepared for a challenging opponent.”
