SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State softball team will host Texas A&M International tomorrow for a double header at the ASU Softball complex with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
The Rambelles (11-5) took two wins from the Dustdevlis (10-14) in Laredo last week. ASU will look to improve on its home record after going 1-4 during the ASU George McCorkle Classic.
After only scoring 18 runs in five games the Rambelles exploded for 23 runs against Texas A&M International.
Lauren Smith, the LSC Hitter of the Week, hit .833 with five hits, five RBI's and five runs scored to lead the team. She is second on the team with a .404 season average and leads the team with 18 RBI's.
Rachel Moore contributed in a big way with her first two career home runs. The sophomore has a .348 season average with seven runs.
The pitching duo of
Mary Kate McKay and
Sandra Serna were efficient last week. Serna threw her second shutout of the season and only allowed two hits. McKay only gave up two runs to earn her fourth victory of the season.
The third inning seems to be the inning to score runs. This season the Rambelles have scored 26 runs in the third inning alone. The first inning is the second-most productive with 15 runs being scored. Overall ASU is 6-0 when scoring in the first inning.
The first game of the double header at 3 p.m. will be carried locally on KKSA 1260AM with Jeremy Bryant on the call. Fans can watch a live stream of the game at AngeloSports.com and get live updated on Twitter @AngeloSports.
