Belles Hit the Road to Face Texas Woman's

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team will head to Denton to face Texas Woman's at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

The Belles are 13-9 and 7-5 in the LSC after their 60-55 upset win over No. 25 Tarleton State on Wednesday night. ASU is No. 12 nationally and the conference's leader in scoring defense at 58.4 points per game and is second in the league in field goal percentage defense at 37.2-percent. The Belles have won four out of their last five games. 

ASU is 3-5 on the road this season and 2-3 against conference opponents. The Belles have dropped two of the last three on the road. Opponents are scoring 66.5 points per game and shooting 39.8-percent from the floor while the Belles are only scoring 58.1 points per game and hitting 37.4-percent from the floor.

The Wall duo of Hillari Adam and Karli Kellermeier has played some of their best basketball the last few games for the Belles. Adam has averaged 12.2 points per game over the last five games and scored in double figures in the last three. The junior is averaging 12.4 points this season and is ninth in the league in scoring.

Kellermeier's last two games have been two of the best of her career. The junior scored a career-high 21 points in the win over ENMU and tied a career high for rebounds in a game with 14 against Tarleton State. Kellermeier is averaging 11.4 points per game over the last five games and has increased her scoring average to 7.1 this season.

Rochelle Norris, the team's third leading scorer at 8.9 per game, scored eight points with three rebounds and three assists against Tarleton State. She had 12 points and nine rebounds the first meeting with Texas Woman's. The Dallas native scores 8.1 points per game on the road for the Belles.

Amanda Weaver, the team's leading 3-point shooter, hit three 3-pointers against Tarleton State. The Center Point native is hitting 40.7-percent of her 3-pointers and has made 44 this season including 12 on the road.

Haylee Oliver scored nine points with three assists with the win over Tarleton State. The junior is the Belles leader in assists with 69 and has dished out 14 assists on the road. She is averging 4.0 points per game overall and 6.1 on the road.

Michelle Rosewell has started the last nine games for the Belles. The Grapevine native is second on the team with 52 assists. She is a scoring 3.0 points per game and 3.5 on the road.

Leah LeMaire is averaging 7.0 points per game and is fifth on the team in scoring. The senior has played better on the road scoring 8.7 points which is third overall.

Tatiana Haynes scoring has dropped slightly after having four-straight games of double-digit scoring. She is averaging 5.3 points per game overall and 6.1 in road games.

Texas Woman's enter the game with a 13-9 record and 8-4 in the LSC. The Pioneers have won eight of their last nine including five straight.

The first game saw the Belles limit Texas Woman's to 28-percent shooting and hang on after being up 16 at halftime. Four Belles scored in double figures including LeMaire (12), Rosewell (12), Norris (12) and Weaver (10).

Rebekah Cluley is the Pioneers leading scorer at 12.3 points per game while Ria Pateraki is averaging 10.7 per game.
