SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team will play its regular season finale against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Kingsville.
The Belles are 13-12 overall and 7-8 in the LSC but have lost their last three games. ASU has clinched fifth place in the conference standings and will face Midwestern State in the first round of the LSC Basketball Championships. It is the 13
th out of the last 14 years the Belles will play in the LSC Basketball Championships.
ASU is scoring 59.9 points per game this season while holding teams to 59.9 points per game. The Belles and their opponents are hitting 38-percent from the floor but are slightly lower from the 3-point line at 30-percent compared to 34.2-percent. The Belles are 11-1 when leading at halftime while outscoring opponents 722-693 in the first half.
On the road the Belles are just 3-7 on the season. The last time ASU has won on the road was at Cameron on January 25. Opponents are scoring 68.2 points per game and making 42.0-percent from the field while the Belles are held to 58.0 points on 36.3-percent shooting.
Hillari Adam has led the Belles this season scoring 12.1 points per game and grabbing 6.5 rebounds. The Wall native is 10
th in the LSC in scoring and 8
th in rebounds. She has 15 games in double figures this season. She averages 10.7 points per game on the road.
Rochelle Norris is second on the team in scoring at 8.9 points per game. The Dallas native has scored in double digits in 13 games this season and added 10 against TAMUK the first time. The senior is scoring 8.5 on the road this year.
Amanda Weaver, the Belles top 3-point shooter, is adding 8.7 points per game. The sophomore has made 50 3-pointers this season and only two away from breaking into the ASU top 10 for 3-pointers made in a single season. The Center Point native is fourth in the LSC making 39.4-percent of her shots from behind the arc. She averages 8.3 points per game on the road.
Leah LeMaire is fourth on the team in scoring at 7.5 points per game. She is the Belles second leading scorer on the road at 9.7 points per game. The Corpus Christi native has dished out 28 assists and made 41 steals on the season.
Karli Kellermeier has averaged a career best 7.3 points per game this season. She has made 45.9-percent from the field and 33.0-percent from the 3-point line. The Wall native is the team leader in steals with 41 and is seventh in the league with 1.6 steals per game. Sh has also grabbed 5.8 rebounds per game.
Haylee Oliver has dished out 72 assists on the season and is 11th in the LSC with 3.0 assists per game. She is seven assists away from moving into the top 10 on the ASU career list. The San Saba native is averaging 4.0 points per game and 3.1 rebounds this season.
Texas A&M-Kingsville is 10-15 overall and 5-10 in the LSC. The Javelinas average 69.6 points per game while allowing 72.7 points per game this season. TAMUK has a 7-6 home record and have two of its last three at home. Lindsey Mahone, LeMaire's sister, is the Javelinas leading scorer with 14.0 per game.
The Belles used a strong first half and build on a 37-17 halftime lead to defeat Texas A&M-Kingsville 63-47. ASU has won the last three games between the two schools and holds a 42-27 series advantage.
