SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State baseball team returns to action this weekend with a three-game series against Texas A&M International University at Jorge Haynes Field in Laredo.
The Rams (2-0) and Dustdevils (3-1) will play a Saturday doubleheader starting at noon and then a single game on Sunday which will also start at noon. The series was originally scheduled to be played on Friday and Saturday, but was pushed back due to inclement weather forecast in Laredo.
"We don't know a lot about them early in the season, but they have been a solid team that has been getting better and better every year," ASU head coach
Kevin Brooks said. "Chad Porter has done a great job with their program and we'll have to go down there and play well to have a chance to win."
Angelo State started its season with a doubleheader sweep of McMurry last Saturday in Abilene, while TAMIU took two of three from Southeastern Oklahoma State last weekend and then earned a 3-2 win in 14 innings over the University of Houston-Victoria on Tuesday.
ASU and TAMIU did not play each other last season after the two teams split a doubleheader in the 2012 season in a doubleheader which was played at Incarnate Word's Sullivan Field in San Antonio. The Dustdevils have a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series against Angelo State, and this will be the first visit for the Rams to Laredo for a baseball game in their 10-year history. ASU's 2-0 record matches the program's best record in school history to start a season and the team is undefeated in games played in Laredo (0-0). The 2012 team started the season 6-0 for the best start in program history.

Feckley, a senior right-hander, struck out eight and didn't walk a batter in 7.0 innings of work in the season-opening win for the Rams.
"I was just trying to pitch to contact and attack the zone," said Feckley, who threw 83 pitches in the seven innings. "I tried to get a head and throw a lot of strikes to get them to hit the ball into the ground and get themselves out. It was a good start and I felt confident in my ability and the defense behind me throughout the game. I'm just going to stick with that game plan of getting ahead in counts and let the defense work for me."
