No. 11 Rambelle Set to Host ENMU for Three-Game LSC Series

The No. 11 Angelo State softball team will host Eastern New Mexico this weekend for a three-game Lone Star Conference series at Mayer Field starting on Friday at 7 p.m.
 
The Rambelles are 28-9 overall and have won 16 of their last 18 contests. ASU has won its last six games and is leading the LSC with a 13-3 record.
 
ASU is tops in the conference in batting average (.364), runs (326), RBIs (294) and stolen bases (77). The Rambelles also find themselves ranked nationally in a few categories. The team is ranked No. 2 in slugging percentage with a clip of .593 and is No. 3 in scoring at 8.81 runs per game. ASU is also No. 5 in batting average and No. 7 in home runs with 1.41 per game.
 
The Rambelle have won 10-straight at Mayer Field and are 16-3 at home this season. The only losses have come from No. 5 St. Mary's and two early losses to East Central. Seven of the nine losses this season have come by two runs or less and three have been in extra innings.
 
Morgan Spearman, the LSC Hitter of the Week, has reached safely in 30-straight games and 35 of ASU's 37 games. The Kennedale native is leading the team and conference in average (.523), on-base percentage (.639,) runs scored (55), hits (56) and walks (35). She is currently No. 7 nationally in batting average and No. 4 in on-base percentage.
 
The senior became the first player in ASU softball history to hit for the cycle and became the ASU all-time career runs scored leader with 197. She is currently nine walks away from breaking Cat Moreno's record of 123 walks in a career.
 
Micherie Koria, the LSC's No. 2 hitter with a .459 average, has scored 45 runs this season with 26 RBIs while also leading the team with 25 stolen bases. She is second on the team with a .569 on-base percentage. She has reached base safely in 17 consecutive games and has 13 multi-hit games.
 
Darian Dunn, the national leader in total RBIs with 67, is third on the team in average with .400. She leads the Rambelles with 12 home runs and is second with a .775 slugging percentage. The sophomore has nine doubles and 16 walks on the year. The Frisco native leads the team with 17 multi-hit games and 19 multi-RBI games.
 
Kenedy Urbany set a career high with six RBIs in a single game against Midwestern State on Saturday. She is hitting .389 on the season with nine doubles, seven home runs and 34 RBIs. The Helotes native led the Rambelles last weekend with a .700 batting average. The freshman drove in 10 RBIs while hitting three doubles and a home run.
 
Urbany got the win in game three of the series pitching 2.0 innings to move to 14-2 on the season with a 3.55 earned-run average.
 
Mary Kate McKay was a workhorse in the circle for ASU this past weekend. The senior pitched three complete games wins while also starting every game of the four-game series in the sweep of Midwestern State. In the three wins, she only allowed five runs (2, 1, 2) on 10 hits (3, 2, 5). MSU did not have more than five hits in a single game against McKay. The Madill, Okla., native limited the Mustangs to a .189 batting average in the four games while striking out six batters. She is now 7-3 on the season with a team leading 3.14 ERA.
 
Eastern New Mexico has a 9-25 overall record and is 1-13 in the LSC. The Rambelles won the first meeting 7-1 between the two schools at the LSC Showcase. McKay earned the win with a complete game eight hitter. Spearman, Dunn and Cisneros all hit home runs to pace ASU.
 
ENMU's Audrey Velazquez is tops on the team with a .318 average and 20 RBIs. Cailin Garmon leads the Zias with a 4.74 ERA and a 5-13 record.

ASU leads the overall series 38-7 over ENMU including winning 24 of the last 25.
 
Friday night's game at 7 p.m. will be broadcasted locally on 1260AM KKSA with Jeremy Bryant on the call. Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. at Mayer Field.
