No.13 Belles Set to Open LSC Tournament with Midwestern State

SAN ANGELO – No. 13 Angelo State volleyball is set to open its 2016 Lone Star Conference Volleyball Tournament run against Midwestern State on Thursday night in the Stephens Arena at the Junell Center at 7:30 p.m.

Finishing with an 18-2 conference record, the Belles enter its ninth consecutive LSC tournament as the No. 1 seed.  The LSC Volleyball Tournament consists of three rounds overall and the victor will claim an automatic bid to the NCAA DII South Central Regional Tournament on December 1. ASU claimed its last LSC tournament title in 2015 and has placed seven tournament trophies on the shelf during the program's history. The Belles are 32-9 all-time and have swept the No. 8 seeded Mustangs in both regular season meetings this season.  

Leading the potent attack for the Belles will be Mallory Blauser, Brianna Sotello and Abbie Lynn. Blauser led the attack with 26 total kills for the Belles this past week. This averaged her 3.25 kills per set.  She has led the team in kills this season (441) and has climbed to third all-time in the ASU history books with 1,350. Blauser leads the Belles from the service line with 34 aces in 2016. She also leads the Belles with 13 double-doubles as she has recorded a total of 310 total digs. The Round Rock native has also been a force along the net with 70 total blocks on the year.

Sotello is second on the squad with 307 total kills and 326 digs on the season.  She has donated 46 total blocks to Angelo States defensive efforts. Dropping in a team third 226 kills from the right side hitter spot, Lynn sported an impressive .283 clip for the season. Defensively, the Amarillo native assisted with 48 total blocks.

Heading the Belles stout defense against the LSC Tournament field will be Morgan Seaton and Mallory Davidson. Dominating along the net, Seaton headed the defense with 70 total blocks for the season with a team leading 13 of those being solo. She is also fourth on the team with 214 kills, which averaged her 2.10 kills per set from the middle blocker position. This also allowed the junior to ink in a .343 hitting percentage for the 2016 regular season. Davidson has racked an outstanding team most 394 digs. This averaged the sophomore 3.90 digs per set during the Belles regular season play.

Tulani Titley has also played a big role in the Belles success on both sided of the ball. The freshman recorded total 19 kills, with a career high 11 kills coming against Eastern New Mexico. She chalked a .366 clip for the week leading the team against Western New Mexico with a.636 hitting percentage. Titley continued to be a force along the net this week leading Angelo State with 12 total blocks for the Belles pair of matches. Against ENMU, the Houston native recorded a team and career high seven total blocks. The freshman then led the squad with five total blocks the next day as the Belles faces Western New Mexico.

Continuing to dish out the ball for ASU will be setter Meghan Parker. Tallying 77 assists in last week's matches, which averaged her 9.62 assists per set, she completed her first regular season in the Lone Star Conference with 1165 total assists. Thus far, her single match career high is 61, which she chalked in a five set match against West Texas A&M on September 24.  She is second on the team from the service line with 32 aces. Defensively, the setter has also assisted with 18 total digs in last week's matches. This included an 11 dig showing against ENMU that marked her eight double-double this season. Parker has accrued 232 total digs and 33 total blocks in 2016 as well. She has also tallied a team second eight double-doubles on the season thus far.    

Adding depth to the court for the No.1 seeded Belles will be Micheala Sifuentes, Leiyona Young and Ali Davison. Sifuentes is currently fourth on the team with 252 digs and second in assists (42). She turned in an 11 dig performance in the Belles last regular season match with WNMU. Young has totaled 45 blocks assists on the season from the middle blocker position. Finally, Davison totaled 11 kills on last week's road trip and can provide great help from the outside hitter position.
