SAN ANGELO – The No .8 Angelo State volleyball team continues its LSC slate hitting the road to Stephenville, Texas on Tuesday, September 20 to take on Tarleton State.
The Belles (11-1, 2-0 LSC) enter the road match –up riding a three match winning streak. Both ASU and TSU (9-1, 2-0 LSC)  pocketed a pair of sweeps this past weekend as they both opened conference play with Texas Woman's and Texas A&M – Commerce. In the two team's last meeting, the Belles went the distance against TexAnns to secure the 2015 Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship. Angelo State owns the all-time record over Tarleton State 36-14.
The Belles currently lead the conference as it is averaging 14.68 kills per set with a .260 team attack average. The offense is also second on the conference list with an average of 13.55 assist per set. Defensively, ASU also leads the LSC in the digs category with an average of 18.80 per set.
Mallory Blauser continued to lead the Belles attack this past week recording 26 total kills, which averaged the senior 4.33 kills per set and a .414 clip for the two matches. Â Climbing to sixth on the all-time career kill list with 1095 kills she needs only two kills to move into the top five all-time. She is currently leads the LSC in total kills (186) and is second in average kills per set (4.65). Assisting the ASU defense, Blauser recorded 20 total digs on the weekend and claimed her fourth double-double of the year.
Assisting the Belles in all facets of the game, Brianna Sotello was second on the squad with 18 total kills and 21 total digs for the week. The junior enters this week's match-ups having broken into ASU's top 20 all-time career kills list with a total of 874 placing her in the 18th spot. She is currently sitting at second on the squad averaging 3.15 kills per set. With 149 total digs on the season, an average of 3.73 per set, she leads the Belles defense. Â
Dominating the right side position for ASU has been junior Abbie Lynn. She is currently sitting third on the team with 98 total kills. In the Belles last two matches the Amarillo native tallied 17 total kills and has recorded six matches this season with no fewer than nine kills.
Dispersing the ball for the Belles, Meghan Parker continues to turn in top numbers. The freshman leads the team and the LSC with 475 total assists for an average of 11.88 per set. With 18 service aces in 2016, she leads the Belles from service line. Parker also leads the squad with six double –doubles on the year having recorded six matches with double –figure digs to assist the defense.
Providing a solid base for ASU's defense will be Leiyona Young and Brooke Robertson. Leading the Belles with 28 total blocks, Young has been a defensive force at the middle blocker position. She has also helped the offensive firing in 41 total kills. Robertson, who set a career record with 15 digs against Texas Woman's, marked double-digit digs in her past two starts at the libero position. Offensively, she led the Belles from the service line dropping in three aces against the Pioneers. Â
Also playing integral in Angelo State success this season has been Morgan Seaton, Tulani Titley, Micheala Sifuentes and Mallory Davidson. Seaton has provided all-around support for the Belles as she is second on the team in the total blocks department with 25 and fourth in total kills with 79. She currently sports a team high .366 attack percentage. Checking in at fifth on the total kills list and fourth with a 2.20 kill per set average, Titley also recorded 15 blocks on the season. Sifuentes has recorded 146 total digs on the season claiming the second spot on the digs list for the Belles. This averages the libero a team most 4.29 digs per set. Rounding out the bunch, Davidson has totaled 98 digs and is fourth on the squad with eight aces on the season.
