No.17 Angelo State Travels to New Mexico to Face WNMU, ENMU

SAN ANGELO – The No. 17 Angelo State volleyball team hits the road this week and continues its conference slate with both Western and Eastern New Mexico.

The Belles, who are currently third in the LSC standing with a 13-4, 5-3 LSC record, will make its first stop in Silver City, New Mexico to take on Western New Mexico. The Mustangs will host the Belles on Friday, October 13 at 7 p.m. CST (6 p.m. MST) sporting a 4-12, 4-4 LSC record thus far. WNMU has allowed a .222 clip from its opponents this season and is coming off a two straight losses at the hands of Texas Woman's and Texas A&M – Commerce.

ASU will then continue its travels with a stop in Portales, New Mexico for a matchup with Eastern New Mexico. The Greyhounds will enter the match after facing Tarleton State on Friday night. Prior to its match with the TexAnns the Greyhounds are rocking a 7-11, 4-4 LSC record and are also be coming off of losses to TWU and TAMUC.

Angelo State has remained at the top of all the offensive categories in the LSC. The team is currently carrying a .254 attack percentage, a 13.67 assist per set average and a 14.43 kills per set average. The Belles are riding a five match win streak and will seek to continue to move up through the rankings.

The Belles will look to Brianna Sotello to assists on both sides of the ball this week as she turned in a team second 30 digs for an average of 4.29 digs per set. This helped the squad limit last week's opposition to a .100 clip for the week. Sotello also recorded a team second three total blocks and the Belles only solo block of the week. Offensively, she led ASU with 29 total kills and an outstanding 4.14 kills per set average. This has earned the senior a conference second 3.98 average on the season. Sotello has also chalked a team leading eight double-doubles this season. From the service line she co-led the squad firing in five total aces and set a season high with four coming against Cameron.

Anna Graham is another force on the court that the Belles will look to for offensive production.  The Bushland, Texas native dropped in a team second 26 kills for the two matches for a 3.71 kills per set average and a .408 clip. This included a team leading and career high 18 kills against Cameron where she also inked a .500 clip for the match. The sophomore added 5 digs and a team second three total blocks to assist the team's stout defense for the week.

Continuing to set up the Belles attack, Meghan Parker tallied 90 total assists for the week helping the team to a .248 clip against the pair of opponents. Chalking a season high 57 assists against Cameron the sophomore fell just short of setting a single match career high. From the service line Parker co-led the Belles with five total aces. She also aided the defense with 19 digs on the week and marking a fourth double-double of the year with 10 digs against the Aggies.

Morgan Seaton and Micheala Sifuentes will help lead the ASU defense along with newcomer Bailey Mulder. Seaton leads the squad patrolling the net with 51 total blocks on the year. She is averaging 89 locks per set and as also made significant contributions to the offense dropping in 1.74 kills per set. With a 5.17 dig per set average, Sifuentes heads the Belles and the Lone Star Conference in the department. Finally, Mulder marked a career high inking 14 digs against Cameron last week. The defensive specialist has averaged 2.00 digs per set this season and is fourth on the team with 13 service aces on the offensive side of the ball.

Also making important contributions for ASU has been Bailey Drum, Ali Davison and Tulani Titley. Drum, who has racked up 22 blocks for the defense, has also been a prolific attacker with a 1.82 kill per set average. Davidson really stepped up for the team this past week as she recorded 16 total kills and 24 total digs in two matches. This also included the sophomore's first career double-double with an 11 kill, 17 dig performance against Cameron. Rounding out the group, Titley has been a constant provider for Angelo State. The Houston native has tallied 12 blocks and a .257 clip from the middle blocker position.
