SAN ANGELO – The No.21 Angelo State volleyball team will head to Stephenville to take on No. 11 Tarleton State for a top 25 mid-week matchup.
The 15-6, 7-5 LSC Belles are scheduled to take to the court at 7 p.m. in the Wisdom Volleyball Gym. After this past week's pair of victories over fellow conference foes Texas A&M –Commerce and Texas Woman's, ASU now sits fourth in the conference behind Tarleton State, TAMUC and Texas A&M – Kingsville. With a .242 team hitting percentage and 13.39 team assists per set the Belles lead the conference. The ASU defense has also held its opposition to a conference second .149 clip and heads the conference with a 17.55 team dig per set average thus far.
With a 20-4, 12-1 LSC record, Tarleton State is not only 13th in the national rankings, but are also currently on top of the LSC standings. The Belles are 1-1 against the TexAnns this season, falling 3-1 in its last match up after sweeping TSU in the Colorado Premiere Tournament. TSU will be seeking to extend its 13 match winning streak, which began on ASU's home court back on September 20.
Angelo State will look to leaders Brianna Sotello, Sundara Chinn, Anna Graham and Morgan Seaton to bring the attack to the TexAnns. Sotello has led the Belles on the offensive side of the ball all season with a 3.99 kills per set average and a .262 attack percentage. With 1,453 career kills, the outside hitter is only five kills away from moving into second all-time in program history. Â The team captain has also been a major role player for the ASU defense as she sits second on the squad with 3.03 digs per set and has also tallied 30.0 total blocks on the year. Chinn, who is currently second on the team with 2.74 kills per set, is sporting a team second .266 clip for the season. She has also been a defensive asset to ASU with a team third 34 total blocks thus far.
Graham has also been a strong all-around acquisition for the Belles as she has accrued a team second 59 blocks on the season. With 170 kills on the year from the right-side, Graham now has a 2.50 kills per set average and has a team second .298 attack percentage. Rounding out the crew, Seaton played a major role in helping the team to rebound last week with a pair of conference wins. With a phenomenal .424 clip for the week, which included a .636 clip performance against Texas A&M –Commerce, the senior averaged 2.29 kills per set for the week. Her .324 clip on the season has allowed the middle blocker to maintain the top spot in the category. Along with her offensive contributions she for the week, she also headed the squad on the defensive side of the ball with a team leading 10 total blocks against the two opponents. This averaged her 1.43 blocks per set. Seaton also added a service ace and seven digs to her weekly tally.
Distributing for the Belles will be Meghan Parker and Eadara Files. Parker, who turned in a team most 54 assists this past week, leads the Belles with a total of 609 on the season. This has allowed the sophomore to climb to eighth all-time in school history with 2,033 career assists. The setter has also been a force from the service line as she leads ASU with 25 on the year. Defensively, she has also assisted with 2.13 digs per set. Fellow sophomore, Files, has also been an asset to Angelo State in the setter role as she is averaging a team second 4.82 assist per set.
Leading the defense against the TexAnns will be ASU's two defensive specialists, Micheala Sifuentes and Bailey Mulder. With a 4.97 digs per set average, Sifuentes lead the Belles in the department with 383 total digs on the season. She has also added 18 total aces to help the team's offensive success. Mulder, who made her first start at the libero position this past week, tallied a team leading 47 total digs for the two matches with a 6.71 digs per set average. This included a career high 30 digs in the Belles defeat of Texas Woman's. Â She also added five assists to her numbers for the week.
Adding depth to the Belles roster will be Bailey Drum and Tulani Titley. Drum has marked three matches this season with double-figure kills, including a career high 13 kill showing against Texas Woman's. The redshirt freshman has also recorded a squad fourth 32 total blocks thus far. Also patrolling the net and racking up kills for the Belles, Titley has racked up 24 blocks and 1.57 kills per set this season. Both players have played major roles in providing different looks for the Belles against the opposition. Â
