SAN ANGELO – The No. 9 Angelo State softball team will head to Laredo to start a seven-game road trip with a doubleheader against Texas A&M International on Monday starting at 12 p.m.
The Rambelles (36-6, 20-4 LSC) are coming off a three-game sweep of UTPB where they held the Falcons to one run and five hits over 19 innings. ASU is hitting .336 as a team while scoring 7.0 runs per game. The pitching staff has a combined ERA of 1.86 that leads the LSC. Texas A&M International is 20-28 on the year and have won seven of its last eight games.
Morgan Hill and Brandy Marlett threw consecutive no-hitters against UTPB. It was the second time in program history ASU has tossed back-to-back no-hitters. It was Hill's first and Marlett's fifth of their career. Hill is 17-4 with a 1.45 ERA this season. She has thrown seven complete games and struck out 115 batters. Marlett has struck out 125 batters in 111.2 innings pitched. She has a 1.94 ERA and a 17-2 record for the season.
Meagan Hill and Makayla Corbin picked up a win and a save against UTPB. Megan Hill is 2-0 on the year with a 2.85 ERA in 19.2 innings pitched. Corbin has only given up six runs in 11.0 innings and has two saves on the year.
Madison Greenwell has a team-high 61 hits and is just eight away from becoming the ASU career leader in hits. She has a .418 average with eight doubles, one triple and three home runs. The Flower Mound native recorded a rare inside the park grand slam against UTPB. She has driven in 31 runs and has stolen 22 bases.
Bailey Wallace has a .407 average with 48 hits. She is fourth on the team with six doubles and tied for the team lead with 42 runs. The Rockwall native has 12 stolen bases and a .497 on-base percentage. Wallace also has three home runs and been hit with 15 pitches.
Jade Strother is hitting .382 on the year with 26 hits. She has scored 26 runs and drawn 16 walks. The sophomore also has two doubles, one triple and one home run on the year.
Taegan Kirk recoded her 10th home run of the season and now has 50 hits. She has recorded 11 doubles and a team high 49 RBIs. The Lubbock native maintains a .388 average while scoring 30 runs. She also has a .705 average and thrown out 10 of 19 batters trying to steal.
Danae Bina has a .347 average on the year with 35 hits, three doubles, three triples and one home run. She has scored 31 runs and tied for the team lead with 22 stolen bases. The Kansas native has drawn 14 walks and been hit 12 times.
Karina Rocha recorded her 10th double of the season against UTPB to go along with 13 home runs. She has a .317 season average with 33 total hits. She is second on the team with 39 RBIs and scored 28 times. Rocha leads the team with 28 walks on the year.
Brooke Mangold has 22 hits, two doubles and two triples on the year. She has scored 23 runs with 16 RBIs. She is third on the team with 16 stolen bases.
Courtney Barnhill added her eighth home run of the season this past weekend. She has 24 total hits and five doubles as well. The sophomore scored 22 runs and driven in 25 on the year. The Lubbock native has 14 walks and stole three bases.
Mykayla Stroud has 23 hits and has driven in 15 RBIs on the year. The freshman has scored 13 runs while adding two doubles and three home runs.
Taylor Fogle has 21 hits on the year with five doubles and three home runs. The junior has drove in 20 runs and drawn 12 walks.
Other Rambelles that have provided depth include Heather Reatherford, Jacqueline Montejano, Amanda Ramage, Mylonee Becerra, Amanda Ramage and Megan Gordon.
