SILVER CITY, NEW MEXICO – The Angelo State women's basketball team defeated Western New Mexico 72-60 Saturday afternoon to remain perfect on the road and move to 12-2 (7-1 Lone Star Conference) on the season.
The Belles placed four players in double figures and were led by Asia Davis, who finished with 17 points, four assists, and two steals. De'Anira Moore did not miss a shot from the floor or the free throw line and finished with 16 points and five rebounds. Dezirae Hampton finished with 13 points and led the team with eight rebounds, and Marquita Daniels added 11 points, four assists, and three steals. Mikayla Blount also added a bit of a scoring punch as she scored eight points and made two three pointers.
For the game, the Belles shot 45 percent from the field and made twice as many free throws as the Mustangs attempted. They will be in action again next weekend as Cameron and Midwestern State come to the Junell Center.
