DALLAS, Texas – The Angelo State University women's soccer team fell in a nail-biting overtime to Dallas Baptist University on Saturday afternoon.
In Case You Missed It:
- Less than two minutes into the game, Dallas Baptist got on the board quick to take a 1-0 lead over the Belles.
- From there, both teams struggled to find their momentum until the second half.
- In the 51st minute, Avery McNeme scored the first goal for the Belles, finding the bottom right corner to tie the game, 1-1.
- About 10 minutes later, Trenadey Scott found Chloe Souza up the field to hit the bottom right corner to give the Belles for their first lead of the game at 2-1.
- With less than four minutes to go, the Patriots scored to tie the game, 2-2, and force an overtime period.
- In overtime, both teams battled hard with less than a minute remaining when Dallas Baptist scored the game winning shot in the 99th minute to end the game, 3-2.
Coach McCorkle's Thoughts:
"I'm not sure it would be fair for me to ask for more of the girls. They left their hearts on the field. We played in a very tough 0-1 game 20 hours ago and to come out and compete and get a goal after going down 0-1... then to get the second and pull ahead and then we go to overtime. So close. At the same time, it's a loss and we don't want to celebrate a loss. We see what we're capable of and that needs to be the minimum standard in however many games remain in our season."
Key Players:
- McNeme and Scott each tallied two shots with one landing on target and McNeme had a goal and Scott had two assists. Souza notched one shot with one on goal while Kylie Hampton and Valerie Solis each registered one shot.
- Kira Miller grabbed two saves and played in all 99 minutes of action.
