Belles Advance To LSC Semifinals

COMMERCE, Texas – The Angelo State Belle volleyball team swept the University of Texas – Permian Basin Falcons in the Lone Star Conference Quarterfinal match.
 
In Case You Missed It:
  • Angelo State jumped to an early 3-0 lead over the Falcons in set one.
  • A kill from Kailyn Gilbreath extended the Belles lead to 6-1.
  • Makenna Hanssens serving abilities extended ASU's lead to 13-9.
  • UTPB rallied back and took the lead form the Belles at 15-14, but Angelo States Morgan Prestons serving abilities and a kill from Haley Coulter would regain the lead for the Belles, 17-15.
  • Kills from Gilbreath and Sundara Chinn extended the Belles lead to 19-16.
  • A kill from Chloe Patton, assisted by Gilbreath, ends set one for ASU, 25-22.
 
  • Kills from Chinn brings ASU to a quick 3-1 lead over UTPB in set two.
  • A kill from Coulter extended the Belles lead to 8-4.
  • Gilbreaths offensive power and skills on the court brought the Blue and Golds lead to 12-6.
  • Lindsey Ledyards skill at setting the ball gave Gilbreath another kill to bring Angelo States lead to 20-14.
  • Baleigh Allens two kills and a block assist with Chinn extends the Belles lead to 23-14.
  • ASU took set two on a kill from Sophia Berg, 25-17.
 
  • Maintaining the momentum from set two, Coulter served for three straight points, including a service ace, to bring the Belles to an early 3-0 lead.
  • With Hanssen back to serve for the Belles, and attack errors from UTPB and a kill from Gilbreath pushed ASU's lead to 7-1.
  • A kill from Allen extended the Blue and Golds lead to 14-5.
  • Gilbreaths kill extended Angelo States lead to 19-11, showing the dominance that ASU held throughout set three,
  • Ledyard served for three straight points to bring the Blue and Gold to a 22-13.
  • ASU took set three with a service ace from Kailyn Gilbreath, ending set three 25-13, and advanced to the LSC Semifinals.
 
Key Players:
  • Kailyn Gilbreath led the Belles offense with 15 kills and showed why she was named Offensive Player of the Year. Sundara Chinn followed close behind with nine kills.
  • Lindsey Ledyard and Meghan Parker registered a total of 38 assists between the two of them, Ledyard having 21 and Parker having 15. Ledyard and Parker both registered eight digs each.
  • Makenna Hanssen led the Belles defense into action as she registered 19 digs against the Falcons, with Haley Coulter following close behind with 14.
