The Angelo State University Belle Volleyball team swept the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.

In Case You Missed It:

• Throughout set one, the Belles and Greyhounds battled neck and neck in points until the end, where a kill from Makenzie Griffin, assisted by Lindsey Ledyard, ended the set in favor of Angelo State.

 

• Makenna Hanssen would go on a three-point run for ASU to further the lead to 12-7 in set 2.
• Chloe Robinson would take control of the serve and continue to pull the Belles ahead to a 20-9 lead.
• With a kill from Aidan Chace, with the assist from Meghan Parker, ASU took set two, 25-12.

 

• With set three underway, ASU would take the lead early in the set and would maintain that lead all the way through.
• At 13-12 in favor of the Belles, Kailyn Gilbreath would take command of the serve and would go on a three-point run to push the Belles to a 16-12 lead over the Greyhounds.
• With some last minute substitutions, Lindsey Ledyard and Eadara Files would serve the Belles to a well-deserved victory, both scoring two points each to finish the match out at 25-16.

Key Players:

• Makenna Hanssen led the defense with 15 total digs against the Greyhounds, while Lindsey Ledyard followed close behind with 10.
• Baleigh Allen and Sophia Berg sprang into action on defense, as they had two blocks each.
• Kailyn Gilbreath showed her offensive prowess, as she had 12 kills, while Makenzie Griffin and Aidan Chace came in second with nine each.

Angelo State returns to their home court to take on the Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals at the Stephens Arena on Wednesday, September 25. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
