SILVER CITY, N.M. – The 11^th-ranked Angelo State women's tennis team picked up its first Lone Star Conference win of the season on Friday, defeating Western New Mexico 6-1 on the road.
 
The Belles improve to 6-3 overall on the season and 1-0 in the LSC while the Mustangs drop to 2-7, 0-1.
 
ASU picked up an early point in doubles play as Valentina Gonzalez and Ena Ovcina won their doubles match 6-2 followed by Zoe Gubbels and Virginie Becht winning 6-3 to clinch the point. Ayda Guler and Maria Delgadillo also won in doubles play, holding on to 7-5 victory in the third spot.
 
In singles play, Alexandra Vishnevskaya made quick work of her opponent at the No. 6 spot, winning 6-0, 6-1. Delgadillo won at the fourth-spot 6-1, 6-2 while Becht clinched the victory for the Belles with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5.
 
Also picking up victories was Gonzalez at No. 1, winning 6-3, 6-1 and Dianela Rodriguez winning 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3.
 
The Belles will continue Lone Star Conference play tomorrow as they take on UT Permian Basin at 2 p.m. in Odessa.
