#17 Belles Overpower Cowgirls En Route to 7-0 Victory

Miller records 200th career save in goal

SAN ANGELO – The ASU Soccer Team improves to 5-0 on the season as they closed out their non-conference schedule with a 7-0 victory over New Mexico Highlands.

The proceedings started in the eighth minute of action when Avery McNeme, assisting for a sixth time this season, off a corner kick, connected with Kylie Hampton for the defender's second goal of the season.

The Belles continued to pepper the Cowgirls' goal with shots before Cindy Rodriguez doubled the lead just three minutes later, her team-leading fourth goal of the season.

The Cowgirls would put the ball in the back of their own net to make it 3-0, and the fourth and final goal of the first half was scored by Mia Czarnecki after a Belle attacker was brought down inside the Cowgirls penalty area.
The junior then slotted the ball to the goalkeeper's right for her first collegiate goal.

The first half saw the Belles take ten shots to the visitor's three, with the gap widening in the second half when they outshot the Cowgirls 11-2.

Breanne Bittick, in only her second career start for the Belles, scored her first collegiate goal in the early stages of the second half, aided by Valerie Solis' fifth assist of the season.

Cindy Rodriguez completed her double just five minutes later, scoring her team-leading fourth goal of the season. The junior midfielder has three goals scored in her last two games played.

The Belles commenced the scoring in the 80th minutes, with freshman Grace Jordan scoring her second goal of the season through Czarnecki's first career assist.

In between the sticks for the Belles, goalkeeper Kira Miller recorded her 200th save for the Belles in the 17th minute. She would make three more saves during the match, also recording her 19th career shutout in the process.

The Belles open conference play on Wednesday in San Antonio when they take on St. Mary's (TX).
