Rambelles Face Tough Road Test in Cameron

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team, coming off their first consecutive conference wins since February 2020, face a tough opponent on the road this week as they make the trip to Lawton, Oklahoma, to face Cameron on Saturday (2 p.m. tipoff). Originally scheduled to face West Texas A&M on Thursday, the Rambelles' game against the Lady Buffs has been postponed due to health and safety protocols. A make-up date for that game has yet to be determined.

The Rambelles are 5-9 overall on the season and 2-1 in conference play; they are one of three teams with only one conference loss and one of six teams with one or less conference losses.

The Aggies are undefeated in conference play this season at 3-0, one of three teams yet to suffer a conference loss this season.

The Rambelles average 65.6 points per game and shoot 38.8 percent from the field as a team; they have three players that average more than 10 points per game – Payton Brown (10.8 PPG), Blakely Gerber (10.5 PPG) and Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant (10.1 PPG).

Additionally, Madeline Stephens recorded her second double-double of the season last week against Midwestern State, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Sawyer Lloyd put together her two best games of the season last week, averaging 18.5 points per game on 15-24 shooting from the field. Lloyd shot 4-7 from three-point range, averaged five rebounds, 6.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game.

Ashlynn Sharp and Samantha Rocha played important roles off the bench last week for the Rambelles. Sharp played 43 minutes over the two games, scoring 13 points, grabbing ten rebounds, dishing out eight assists and nabbing five steals. Rocha averaged nine points per game in 39 total minutes of action, averaging six rebounds and shooting 7-14 from the floor.

SCOUTING THE AGGIES
Cameron is 8-5 on the season and 3-0 in conference play. The Aggies lead the country with 11 made three-pointers per game. They also lead the conference in free throw percentage, threes made, three-point percentage and turnover margin.

The Aggies offense is led by Maighan Hedge, who leads the LSC in scoring and is third in the country with 21.8 points per game. Hedge also leads the LSC with 2.6 made threes per contest.

The Rambelles are 17-7 against the Aggies and are currently on a nine-game winning streak against them dating back to 2016.

The Rambelles are scheduled next to be back home to face defending national champions Lubbock Christian and Eastern New Mexico next weekend.
