SAN ANGELO – Following a 1-1 weekend on the road, the Angelo State volleyball team returns to the friendly confines of Stephens Arena at the Junell Center to host Lubbock Christian and Eastern New Mexico.
The Rambelles enter this weekend with a 9-9 overall record and are 5-1 in conference play, currently tied with DBU for third in the standings.
The Belles have five attackers with over 100 kills on the season, led by
Hannah Kinnison's 143.
Sydney Mundkowsky and
Kaila Garnett, who have 123 and 122 kills, respectively, both recorded double-digit kills in the Belles' last match against Cameron.
Freshman middle blocker
Cate Boldrick leads the team with a .311 hitting percentage; since the start of conference play, the Austin native is hitting .367, eighth-best in the LSC.
Kayla Baer leads the team with 5.13 assists per set, while teammate
Laney Dale averages 5.00 assists per set.
Libero
Caleigh Enax has 23 service aces this season, tenth-best in the LSC. The sophomore is averaging 4.33 digs per set, good enough for ninth in the conference this season.
Marina Sanchez is averaging 1.27 blocks per set at the net, good enough for third in the LSC and 11
th in Division II.
SCOUTING THE LADY CHAPS
Lubbock Christian is 7-11 on the season and 3-4 in conference play. They are coming off a weekend where they defeated St. Edward's in five sets before being swept by St. Mary's.
The last time these two teams met was at the LSC Crossover back on September 10
th, where the Belles snapped their seven-match losing streak with a four-set victory over the Lady Chaps.
LCU's Aaliyah Gray and Payton Murray led the visitors with seven kills in the match, and setter Kayton Genenbacher assisted 34 times.
That match also saw Sanchez record 13 blocks, a new program record for the Belles in the rally-scoring era.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
Eastern New Mexico is 10-9 overall and 1-6 in conference play. Last weekend, they lost to St. Mary's in five sets before defeating St. Edward's in four sets for their first conference win.
The Greyhounds lead the conference by holding opponents to a .132 hitting percentage this season.
The Belles are 50-19 against the Greyhounds all-time, having won the six meetings overall and the last 13 meetings in San Angelo, last losing to the Greyhounds on October 8
th, 2005.
Last season, the Belles beat the Greyhounds in four sets inside the Junell Center.
Following this weekend, the Belles will return on the road to face St. Edward's and St. Mary's.
