Mobile, Ala. – A weather delay due to rain may have dampened the greater Mobile metropolitan area, but the rain did not damper the play of the Angelo State women's tennis team as they opened their three-match road trip with a convincing 7-0 shutout of Spring Hill College on Tuesday.
It took only a half-hour for the Belles to win all three doubles matches; line one pairing
Valentina Gonzalez and
Ena Ovcina, neither of whom would play singles action, didn't drop a set en route to a 6-0 victory that only took 21 minutes to decide.
Ramitha Irrinki and Adya Guler (line two) and
Alexandra Vishnevskaya and
Esther Bowers (line three) both claimed their doubles matches with 6-2 wins.
On the singles sides, all six singles matches were won by the Belles in straight sets.
The Belles improve to 8-2 overall on the season are back in action tomorrow in Pensacola against #13 West Alabama, with that match originally scheduled for Friday being moved up to tomorrow due to weather.
