No. 10 Rams Set to Host the Javelinas in LSC Clash

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The 10th-ranked Angelo State baseball team will be back at home this weekend as the Rams host Texas A&M – Kingsville in a four-game conference series at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium beginning Friday, Mar. 25.
 
LAST WEEK:
The Rams remained perfect on the road, sweeping Texas A&M International for ASU's third consecutive road sweep. Aaron Munson earned Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week after throwing eight scoreless innings with 12 strikeouts in his outing as the Rams shut out the Dustdevils in two games of the series.

The Rams have had control of the series against the Javelinas in recent years, winning 10 of the last 13 matchups. TAMUK snapped a six-game losing streak to the Rams last year, winning game three of the series 6-2.
 
SCOUTING TEXAS A&M – KINGSVILLE:
The Javelinas have the top pitching staff in the LSC as they enter the weekend with a 17-9 overall record, going 15-9 in conference play. After starting the season strong, winning three of the first four series, TAMUK has slid the last couple of weeks, losing five of their last eight games including three games to Lubbock Christian in their most recent matchup.
 
Leading the Lone Star in team ERA, the Javelinas hold a 3.76 ERA which ranks 28th overall in Division II. They have the third-most strikeouts in the conference at 235 and have given up the third-fewest walks. Brandon Symmank and Kolby Lunsford lead the team with 4-1 records, both pitching over 30 innings in six appearances. Symmank holds a 1.91 ERA which leads the LSC and has totaled a team-high 48 strikeouts.
 
At the plate, TAMUK is towards the middle of the pack with a .294 team batting average. The Javelinas are sixth in the LSC in scoring with 180 runs and seventh in hits with 234. Shelby Becker is leading with a .407 batting average while Giancarlo Servin holds a team-high with 27 RBIs.
 
QUICK HITS:
-ASU has moved up in the latest NCBWA Top 25 Rankings, moving to 10th overall.
-Aaron Munson was named the South-Central Region Pitcher of the week after his eight scoreless innings against the Dustdevils, racking up 12 strikeouts.
-The Rams have walked the fewest batters in the LSC, giving up only 70 on the season.
-Jake Rogers is third in the country in wins with six on the year.
-The Rams are fifth in Division II in on-base percentage at .455 while Justin Lee is sixth individually at .594.
