SAN ANGELO – Having started 2-0 in Lone Star Conference action, the Angelo State volleyball team looks to build on their success in conference play, with matches against Texas Woman's and Midwestern State on the docket for the Rambelles this week. They travel to Denton on Wednesday to face the Pioneers before hosting the Mustangs on Saturday.
The Belles were only one of four teams to start LSC play with a 2-0 record, alongside Texas A&M International, West Texas A&M, and UAFS.
Offensively, the Belles have five players –
Hannah Kinnison,
Sam Rodgers,
Kaila Garnett,
Sydney Mundkowsky, and
Elsa Lamphere – who have recorded 75 or more kills this season.
Mundkowsky, in particular, is coming off a match against UT Permian Basin, where she recorded a career-high 22 kills while hitting .459 for the match. The junior entered the match with 76 career kills, with Saturday's output representing nearly a quarter of her career kills.
Last Wednesday's match against Western New Mexico also saw a career-best performance for freshman
Cate Boldrick. In her first-ever LSC match, the Austin product had 13 kills and hit .667 for the match. In LSC play, the middle blocker averages 2.25 kills per set and 1.38 blocks per set.

Caleigh Enax, who leads the team with 199 digs on the season, is 10
th in the LSC in total digs while also being ninth in the conference with 0.38 service aces per set. Teammate
Marina Sanchez is second in the conference with 1.29 blocks per set, which ranks her 14
th nationally.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Texas Woman's is 10-4 overall on the season and 1-1 in conference play. Last weekend, they beat St. Mary's in five sets before falling to St. Edward's in four.
Tori Woods leads the LSC with 22 service aces this season. The freshman is also second on the team with 143 kills and is hitting .217 on the season.
The Belles are 13-6 against the Pioneers, dating back to 2012. The Belles won in four sets in Denton last season.
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
Midwestern State is 3-11 on the season and 1-1 in LSC action. They defeated St. Edward's in five sets before falling to St. Mary's in four last weekend.
As a team, the Mustangs lead the conference with 2,144 total team attacks this season. They are led offensively by freshman Sadie Portmann's 149 kills on the season.
The Belles have not lost to the Mustangs since 2008, having won their last 22 meetings against Midwestern State. Last season, the Belles won in four sets in Wichita Falls. The last time these teams met in San Angelo was on February 27, 2021, when the Belles won in four sets.
