Rams Clash with Chaps in South Central Super Regional

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State baseball team will travel to Lubbock, Texas where the Rams will face off against Lubbock Christian in a best-of-three series beginning on Friday, May 26 for a spot in the 2024 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship Tournament.

LAST TIME OUT:
The Blue and Gold swept through the South Central Regional with a victory against host Colorado Mesa and two wins against Lone Star Conference rival West Texas A&M including the regional-clinching win to allow the Rams to advance.

The Rams and Chaps split the regular season series in San Angelo earlier this season. ASU has claimed victory in eight of the last 10 contests while scoring over seven runs a game against LCU.

SCOUTING THE CHAPS:
Lubbock Christian swept through their opponents as the top seed in the South Central Regional, taking down UT Permian Basin and Regis by a combined score of 51-23 in three combined contests. The Chaps are second in Division II with 686 hits while sitting fifth with a .348 team batting average.

QUICK HITS:
- Tripp Clark's .448 batting average is eighth in DII while leading the LSC along with his OPS (1.323) and RBI (83)
- Jacob Guerrero leads the LSC in stolen bases (26)
- Weston Valasek has been hit by a pitch 29 times this season which leads the conference and is among the nation's leaders
- Justin Harris' 46 walks puts him third best in the conference
- Braxton Pearson's 3.67 ERA puts him second best in the LSC while his 10 walks allowed topping the conference
- Dax Dathe's 104 strikeouts lead the conference and is seventh in DII.
- Alezeah Gutierrez is fifth with a 4.58 ERA
